I really wanted to make an natural, herbal based scrub that could also be a mask for a long time. A wonderful fellow soaper turned me onto the basic "foundation" for this recipe. I took that foundation and ran with it! What I ended up with is 1 ounce tube of goodness for your face... "Saving Face" Scrub & Mask.
To use, simply pour a nickel to quarter sized amount into the palm of your hand, and drizzle with warm water. Make into a paste. Scrub your cleaned face with paste, and then rinse. *IF* you wish to use it as a mask, then leave it on your skin allowing it to dry. Then rinse thoroughly and follow up with your favorite facial moisturizer.
For a few different ways of using this mask/scrub:
You can mix the scrub with milk/goat's milk or yogurt to add alpha-hydroxy acids to your mask which will help to remove dead skin cells.
For something a little more spa like, you can use floral waters, or even a pureed fruit, stirred into the mixture.
You can also mix in a little warmed honey for it's antibacterial properties. Honey is also a humectant, which means it attracts and retains moisture.
I do not recommend using this more than once a week. Avoid your eye and mouth area completely. Some tightness or tingling afterwards is normal with scrubs/masks.
If *ANY* out of the ordinary skin irritation occurs, please discontinue usage immediately.
Ingredients: Rice Flour, Colloidal Oatmeal, Ground Oatmeal, Ground Almonds, Goat’s Milk, Cucumber Extract, French Pink Clay, White Kaolin Clay, Honey Powder, Rosehip Powder. Ground Calendula, Lavender, Chamomile. Dendritic Salt. Lavender, Palmarosa, Bergamot, and Patchouli Essential Oils. 1oz tube.
